Edelman formula is fundamental to understanding sodium

Sodium is wildly misunderstood and mismanaged.

If you want to understand sodium you should spend the time to truly understand The Edelman Formula. I have seen no better explanation of this formula than this powerpoint by Graham Gipson (who incidentally also designed the 2023 NephMadness logo). It is 133 slides long, but he has printed each build of the slides separately, and I found it fairly self guided. He beautifully shows how the EdelsonFformula can be derived using first principles and algebra and ends with demonstrating how the formula (nearly) perfectly predicts the results of Edelman’s classic 1958 experiment.

Crazy Medical Presentation, or Craziest Medical Presentation?

Giles Brindley, the man who
gave whole new meaning to

PowerPoint.

In 1983 Professor Brindley presented his findings on papaverine injection and erectile dysfunction. His presentation was a bit unconventional as recounted by (PDF) Laurentz Klotz, a senior resident who attended the presentation.

…four or five of the women in the front rows threw their arms up in the air, seemingly in unison, and screamed loudly. The scientific merits of the presentation had been overwhelmed, for them, by the novel and unusual mode of demonstrating the results.

Not “Death by PowerPoint” but “Death Star by PowerPoint”

I love this scene in Star Wars because it is pretty rare in movies to see a formal lecture. The presenter, General Dodonna, knocks it out of the park.

What if the Dodonna used Powerpoint?

Garr Reynolds from Presentation Zen deconstructs Dodonna’s presentation style and compares it with contemporary powerpoint presentations. FYI, anyone who wants to do a better job creating and delivering presentations should be reading Presentation Zen.

Here is a movie with the same idea from YTMND:
