The Fluids Book
During residency, Sarah Faubel, and I wrote this programmed text on electrolytes. The process galvanized my interest in nephrology. The Acid Base and Electrolyte Companion is a highly styled book with a picture on every page along with simple questions at the bottom of each page to make sure you understand concepts before mindlessly flipping the page. It is highy regarded with 5 stars at Amazon. You can download the entire book (591 pages!) as a single PDF (28 mb). More info and a link to the free download here. Or just download the book from this lnk:
Now updated with the introduction, colophon, credits, dedication and table of contents.

Nephrology Secrets
I didn’t write this book but I edited every damn page. And there are a lot of pages (656 to be exact). I think it is an excellent book for a medical student, resident, or the non-aspirational fellow, trying to get a handle on nephrology. It is fairly straight forward and direct. It will help you take care of and understand your patients with kidney disease. The two other editors, Matt Sparks and Edgar Lerma, are among the greatest medical educators of their generation. This book, alas, is not free but can be purchased at a reasonable cost ($37.52 at the time I wrote this) at your favorite online book seller (that is code for Amazon).

Handbook of Critical Care Nephrology
I wrote a handful of chapters and edited the rest. It was great working with Edgar again and Jay Koyner and I worked together as fellow and Intern back in the day, so it was great to ride with him again.
I think the book turned out real good. One of the innovations we tried was stuffing the book full of visual abstracts. Great way to make the science behind the chapters really pop. Check it out.
